Hi!

A rather stupid question...  I am using a version 5.0-RC found by accident. It works really well on my PC...
Much better than the 4.0 listed on the download page: https://fr.dolphin-emu.org/download/

But to find new RC, I have to google on a possible new version. Eg.: I have the 5.0-RC37. So I google from time to time for 5.0-RC38.

Isn't it a list of the available 5.0RC just like there is a list of unstable version 4.0 ?

Many thx for you hlep.

V.

Amazing how great is your emulator! I did discover it a few weeks ago.. Congrats!

Dolphin 4.0 is over 2 years old. Dolphin 5.0-RC (Wich you probably have, based on a build 4.0-6xxx, dev is at about 4.0-887x) has been "discontinued", because it wasn't good after all because of the feature freeze, some good features couldn't get into 5.0. There should be a 2nd try, but i haven't seen anything new about it.

You are best to go by using the Dev-Versions (4.0-xxxx) at the moment. You get speed, accuraty and support.

The order of downloads on https://fr.dolphin-emu.org/download/ is not choosen by accident, so just use the first download buttom you'll find. Hopefully 5.0 will be there at the top soon.

Dolphin tried to do a split approach to how the dev builds and 5.0rc were being developed, but that was abandoned in favor of what Dolphin had always used, a feature freeze. Currently Dolphin is in a feature freeze, meaning that no "big" changes will be added/worked on (with the exception of ones that have been deemed needed by 5.0). Instead, bug fixes will be given the highest priority and will be worked on to fix any regressions that were not present in 4.0.2 stable.

So what you'll see on the downloads page is the 4.0-xxxx dev build numbers increasing. Eventually, all regressions/bug fixes/changes will be added, and Dolphin 5.0 will be released.

The 5.0RCs are based on 4.0-6727, which is *really* old! Get the latest dev versions, and you'll get a lot lot more features and fixes!

Many thx for you input.. I am surprised by your answers as the 5.0-RC37 publish 2 month ago (https://dolphin-emu.org/download/dev/c55481882f9350f6f4835df24efaca4e79ede045/) really appeared to me to be faster than the latest 4.0.xxx.

But I will retry a 4.0.8xxx Wink

For some games, I found the 5.0 versions to be faster or even better when 4.0 crashed on some specific scenarios.

It's a matter of finding the right version/configuration for each game.

Probably a placebo effect. Newer is almost always better (speed or accuracy improvements). (And 5.0 is based on 4.0, so…)

Probably that, or I just managed to hit the best configuration with 5 and not 4
