I just downloaded Dolphin 4.0 and I notices it was a setup that install and is no longer a portable extract and run. I keep a separate folder with a different version of Dolphin 3.5 for all my games so the settings are exactly the same everytime I run that specific game and i tried this with 4.0 and no matter what changed I make it changes the settings for all my Dolphin 4.0 copies. is there a way to keep it from changing my settings?

Jhonn may make a portable version of 4.0 like he did for 3.0 and 3.5. They're both still available on portableapps.com, so if you do need it to be properly portable, that's your best option.

Yes, it'll be updated soon (I'm a little busy now). I already started doing the required changes, but got little time to test and pack an updated version... However, if you're in a rush, the current launcher for 3.5 should work with new versions if you manually create an "portable.txt" file inside DolphinEmulatorPortable\App\Dolphin and DolphinEmulatorPortable\App\Dolphin64
In the worst case, I'll push the updated launcher when Dolphin 4.0.1 arrives (but I'll do my best to release the 4.0 version before and then update again) EDIT: forgot the location, http://portableapps.com/node/35614

I can do windwaker at college (UK 6th form, not US university) when I'm sat next to someone who's doing homework in order to stop them doing homework as efficiently, and that works fine with 3.5.
How possible would it be to have some way of synchronising save data between a portable version on a pendrive and my regular PC, though? Is there anything easier than copy and pasting whichever savegame is newest? I'm thinking along the lines of a Windows Briefcase (something I discovered when messing around on friday).

Well, if you're using 3.5-2381 or newer and is using the default behavior of global user directory, copying all content from DolphinEmulatorPortable\Data to My Documents\Dolphin Emulator should do the trick...
The sync feature would need an separate app from doing that, implementing this directly in the portable launcher would prevent Dolphin from being officially released at PortableApps.com in a near future due some restrictions and guidelines they impose on the official launchers...
