Yes i know that. But opengl on linux is more powerful compared to directx and opengl on windows. Thats why i currently use linux on my laptop. Because i can get better performance. But my issue is the cpu. Since changing from x2 to x3 internal resolution makes no differences in speed. Only when i change to x4 it gets slower, so the gpu probably handles well at x2 internal res. Not to mention that the gpu never goes above 62°C on linux, on windows it goes immediately to 80°C while performance is actually worse.

In terms of cpu, its exactly the same on both OS. Im going to test it out without turbos and HT and see the differences.

I,m really glad with the linux version though. Its amazing and i never thought it would be better off on linux, cuz you know. Its the old linux is this, windows is that but i guess that ''see for yourself'' is the thing in this situation.

thx :-)

But how do you use your optimus GPU in linux? The fastest way I know of is primus, but it's still much slower than the original optimus on Windows.

Yeah thats true. But its already faster than windows! Imagine when the real optimus gets here lol.

After many many tests on both Linux and Windows, i found out that with my laptop i get better performance on Linux with hyper threading off.

I tested with Xenoblade Chronicles(PAL) with 60VPS patch.

On Windows it runs but with many random stops (speccialy at the beggining of a battle), and when it starts it never ends, it just stops half a second and then starts dropping FPS till it stops at 40-45. No matter if its DX9/11 or OpenGL. Performance is the same on all with the exception that is worse with OpenGL

Specs: Intel i7 2670qm @2.2 - 3.1Ghz Boost, 8gb ram ddr3 1333mhz NVIDIA GT540M.

Settings:
Internal resolution to auto: windows size 1366x768;
Anisotropic Filtering x16;
Scaled EFB Copy - on ;
Skip EFB - on;
Ignore format - on;
EFB - texture;
Texture - fast;
External frame - Disable
OpenMP/Fast Depth/Vertex Streaming - on

Audio DSP HLE ALSA

With these settings I managed to get solid 100% speed and constant FPS.
I'm really happy because while playing temps in the GPU never go above 65ºC and CPU almost hits 80ºC

Compared to the Windows 7 performance this is amazing.

I used Bumblebee with NVIDIA beta drivers 331.13 - using "primusrun" command instead of "optirun". Optirun gave me worse performance. I also forced FXAA on the NVIDIA X Server Settings.

Oh another note, if i have a SWAP partition for Linux on my HDD it's the same as Windows, it lags sometimes and it never recovers and keeps on bringing down the fps till it hangs at about 40. So I recommend no Swap partition. It's only needed if the computer has 4GB or less RAM anyway.

With this being said, I do really recommend using Linux to play on laptops with average hardware. It'll probably have better performance, say at least some 20% - 30%.
I started using Linux to test this emulator, and now (even though Linux can give me lots of headaches sometimes[80% of the time lol]) I'm keeping it, i'm really happy and it's also a good way to try something new.

Congrats to the devs, this is the most optimized emulator ever and also the best for sure.

I forgot to mention 1 thing.

I open Dolphin and play a game normally, then i stop the emulation but i don't close Dolphin. The next time i start a game it shuts down the whole program after 2 secs before the reading disc thing appears. So i always have to close Dolphin completely and Start a new Dolphin if I want to play again. I don't know if this is a thing, but i thought you might wanted to know. It only happens on Linux.
