Dolphin 4.0-6025~ cannot switch windowed mode

whenever I play in fullscreen mode using keyboard as joystick, after a few minutes I'm unable to go back to windowed mode or take screenshots, etc, except through esc, shutting down the game.
anyone having the same problem?

In the controller options, try enabling "Background input"

Is this a problem with the newer version that wasn't in an older one, or is it something common throughout versions?

It could be a recent problem.

Try on an older dev build to see if it's a version problem.
