Hey! im new here so sorry if this post is in the wrong section or anything, but I am having a small problem with the auto save feature in the game Gauntlet Dark Legacy. it boots up just fine but when the first screen shows up it says "Gauntlet will now create a save file, Do not touch the power button or the memory card." Im not sure if its a simple check box in the settings or what. but plz do help.

Thanks in advance for taking time to help me! Big Grin

First order of business is to try a current development build, there've been tons of fixes since 3.5 was released and one of them may fix the crash you're experiencing. http://dolphin-emu.org/download/

I fixed it, it was looking at a memory card in slot A, I went to Options > configure > gamecube > slotA > nothing
That seemed to fix and now we can play some good ol gauntlet Big Grin

Thanks to all those who helped make dolphin possible!!

Whoever made Dolphin possible probably just started it as a plot to sell more high-end Intel CPUs. >_>

Also, if you just took out the memory card and are now relying on save states to save, be aware that Dolphin's save states are *really* fucking unreliable and your game's inevitably gonna break somewhere if you keep using them. Again, try a newer build, I'm pretty sure skidau might've fixed this with that FIFO-BP branch he merged a while ago. http://dolphin-emu.org/download/ (Also, any audio issues you currently have under DSP HLE (the default method of audio processing) have very likely been fixed in current builds, if you need more incentive.)

For emulators like Dolphin (and PCSX2 probably), Intel's offerings outperform AMDs, even at the same pricepoint. We've done benchmarks and have the data to back this up; it's pretty much an established fact in this community. But if you're happy with your performance in Dolphin for the games you play, then it really doesn't matter Wink

AMD's usually worse off for Dolphin since they currently have a rather large instruction-per-clock disadvantage, meaning their CPUs need to be at higher clockspeeds to do the same amount of work, thus meaning they're also using more power to do the same amount of work. And now they're just deciding to clock their CPUs at ridiculous speeds to make up for it: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7066/amd-announces-fx9590-and-fx9370-return-of-the-ghz-race

Everyone recommends Intel chips in this forum due to their IPC advantage and due to AMD's focus on having eight cores in everything being absolutely goddamn useless for Dolphin due to its inability to use more than two or three. An i5-4670K can get away with a pretty light overclock (say, like, 3.5 -> 4.5 GHz) to run the most demanding games at full speed, while a comparable AMD CPU requires a much more ludicrous overclock (3.6 -> 5.2, 5.5 GHz? fuck if I know, I've never overclocked one) to achieve the same result.

...Anyway, yeah, figure out saving. It'll be better for you than caring about CPUs.
