Not that this is exactly an issue, but something I noticed. While the Dolby option could be checked under Xaudio2 and OpenAL, on my Logitch 5.1 setup, I was not getting any audio from my rear speakers. Not until I tried out CubeB, then they worked fine. I also had LLE enabled for all backends too.

Is this a known problem? I tested with Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime and Twilight Princess. I guess I'll be sticking with CubeB then. Also I tried with and without Realtek HD drivers installed on my PC, and always had 5.1 setup correctly.

What is the exact model of the audio hardware (Realtek ALCxxx?) Which operating system is this on?

Surround sound drivers are hit and miss on Windows. I'm running Windows 7 x64 with Realtek ALC1150 hardware on default drivers and I am getting surround in both OpenAL and Cubeb but not in XAudio2. This also means that Ubisoft games (e.g. Far Cry series, Watchdog series) do not work in surround for me.

I'm also running Windows 7 64-bit and have the same Realtek ALC1150 as you. I tried with both the latest Realtek HD driver and Windows default, it's the same on both. Only CubeB is properly outputting sound to my rear speakers. It's fine though as I'm noticing that CubeB is a lot better than the other two backends. Next to no audio skipping or popping unlike OpenAL, works great even using LLE.
