That's weird, considering that it fixes all the games that have the issue with fifo overflown errors and crashes.

It's still obviously great work, but it just happens to harm this one game for some reason. Can anyone explain why that would happen?? Let me know if I can provide nay more info!

@ Legend80: You're saying that you get several FIFO warnings...but it sounds as if the game keeps on running...? If you disable Panic Handlers, can you play the game without it crashing?

If they are on, I have to dismiss about 15 actually to reach the main menu.

So anyway, I think this should be committed now so people can test this...I don't think many are doing that with it just here. Looks to be pretty sound with HUGE benfits of course. Not sure what we're waiting on at this point...
But can we just leave the "Watermark" option maybe so people can override it maybe? If it weren't for the issue with Crash Bandicoot (and possibly others) I would say ditch it. I would suggest adding an "auto" selection (lets the patch do it's thing) that would be default but then the user can also set it manually if need be (Crash Bandicoot). Just an idea for a temp solution if a fix can't be implemented soon for that wierd issue (if it even can) but at least we can unroll this puppy and increase the overall stability of the emu.

Manually setting the watermark won't work with the patch, the patch is meant to automatically find the correct value for each game and it's not something that can be manually set with the patch. Before it can be committed, the idle skipping option should be properly re-implemented so it doesn't cause slowdowns, if not just remove idle skipping completely. I suppose that would give some time to check out what is causing the issue with the game you mentioned, which sounds like manually setting the watermark won't fix since the game never had any issues prior to testing with this patch.

The first post, title of the thread, and replies explain what the patch is supposed to fix in detail, so it would help to read. I've had zero fifo overflown errors and related crashes since applying the patch. |
