Hello,
I know this should be in games discussion but i cannot post there!

I was emulating some games today, which already took alot of effor to start off with.

Now, i've noticed something very odd going on..

Follow me step by step:

Zelda, collector's edition >
Ocarina of time/wind waker/majora's mask:
Same speed percentage, and same amount of fps mostly.

That's not the biggest thing though..

The first and second zelda games, which are build for the NES,
LAG AS MUCH, as OOT, WW, and MM do?

I really don't understand, it just doesn't make sense?..

For anybody curious:
I run most games at 50-70% speed,
20 fps average if im lucky.
1.6GHZ processor.

You're running an emulator inside of an emulator, that's why. Just play those games using a rom on an NES, SNES, and N64 emulator.

I know that..

But why do SOME games run perfect with 1.6GHZ, and some need high end computers?

When clearly, an old nes game should be at the very minimum?

Edit: Just wondering, i would never bother playing them anyways.

because it is not just an old NES game. It's Dolphin running that game, witch is an NES emulator for the gamecube. That's why it's slow. NaturalViolence already said that, learn to read.

The amount of processing power needed on the native hardware cannot be compared against the amount needed to emulate it, that's why.

Seriously what i see in this thread
it seems that everyone its trying to help
you but specifically you didn't gave enough details
on your problem and nor your computer specs
but only giving info on ghz of your cpu.

But in my opinion to those in dolphin your going to need a better computer.

If my last post didn't answer your question than I guess I don't understand what your question is. Could you try rephrasing it?

He means the one about why some games require more processing power than others... which is because the games uses the different features of the GC/Wii in different amounts, and some features requires more to emulate than others
Specs: intel i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz;
16Gb RAM; Raedon HD 7900;

Some games also use Wii features which are somewhat hard to emulate properly and thus require more processing power.
VirtualConsole stuff usually doesn't depend on that kind of stuff, whereas e.g. Super Mario Galaxy needs EFB access.
Still, the more severe factor is most likely the fact that you're running an emulator inside an emulator (which was already stated Wink )
