Well, the difference between 720p and 1080p resolution rendering is actually massive. On 720p, the graphics card has to draw ~933,000 pixels at any given time, on 1080p the graphics card must draw over ~2 million pixels. So there is literally a 50% difference between the two.
The problem? They lack the power to render a good-looking game at that. MOST 360/PS3 games are rendered at around 640p and upscaled to the desired resolution.
Speaking of 2500x1600.... I need a new monitor.
