It's not the fact that these types of projects don't have release dates that bothers me, it's the fact that most of the time, hardly anything except screenshots, videos, or music ever gets released at all. There are a number of fan-gaming projects that make it to fairly advanced stages, but still nothing gets out to the public even years later. Dolphin has the advantage of being available now, since it's open-source.

besides game compatibility other factors are more important, no matter how easy or difficult it is to emulate the hardware.

-large community (with all the goods and bads this implies)
-customization
-open source
-stable multiplatform compatibility
-compatible with Wii controllers
-not tied to the whims of one person
