Mario Golf&Tennis have visual issues in 1964/PJ64 which is what I use the VC for. Paper Mario is another problematic one that needs Glide64 to get running glitch free. Dolphin/VC is probably easier/faster than MESS.

Blame Camelot Soft, their games are pretty annoying to emulate on a lot of systems. Mario Power Tennis has graphical and sound issues in Dolphin. The GBA Golden Sun games also had a lot of self modifying code apparently, and a few GBA emulators I've tried struggled with it (not VBA-M though
 ) Dark Dawn, last time I heard, was one of the most demanding DS games to play on Desmume (dunno if this has changed with 0.9.8).

No you don't. 95% of their talented employees left 7-10 years ago. They would be cranking out shitty games no matter who they were managed by.
