It looks like one of the screws for the cpu heatsink/fan had come loose and the heatsink had pulled away from the processor. I've shut the machine down until Friday when I'll put some new thermal compound on, clean up the heatsink, and reattach everything. Hopefully, that takes care of the heat problem, stabilizes the CPU, and lets me see what Dolphin can do!
Just to give an update. Once I tried putting on the compound, I realized that the bracket was broken, and thus wasn't getting a good seat on the processor. I got a new fan/heatsink, and the idle temps dropped from the high 90's celsius to the high 20's. Melee played like a champ... for about 10 minutes. Then I got the "Dolphin has stopped working" error. I'm going to be chasing that one, but I don't think that's related to the problems I was having.
I just wanted to record my resolution on this one in case anyone comes across this later. Thanks for the help from everyone! If I can't figure out the error message, I'll post questions, but I'll do so on a new thread, since it looks like I'm on a different issue.
