If you want to play games in Dolphin with a Sensor Bar you can simply use a Wireless Sensor Bar. Since the Sensor Bar is just a source of Infrared Light it doesn't need to be connected to your Computer! Wireless Sensor Bars are usually battery-powered.

is what says in main page. What i need to know if i'm going to play Super Mario Galaxy do i need sensor bar or not. What is that thing used for?

To put it simply : you can't point at the screen . In SMG,you're not able to collect the star nor Yoshi's tongue without a sensor bar
