Forgive me for my lame thread, but I need some help.

My Wii has HBC, DVDX, and Bootmii (On boot2) installed. All of that is working well. However, I still can't backup disks via ftpii or any other method.

Looking around, I figure I need to install Tona's patchmii (or whatever the legal one's called) to get that cool IOS.

Questions:
1. I'm currently at 4.1. Do I need to use the Anyregion changer to downgrade to 3.2 before I use Tona's patchmii? Is any of this safe?

2. If I downgrade, what are the side effects? (Updating, shop channel, etc)

Thanks in advance, and sorry if I posted something in the wrong spot/illegal.

I could talk to you about cIOSes but it appears that you don't want to go that route and the legality of those are disputed.

I'm fine with any cIOS, so long as it's legal and safe (Which, based on my google-ing, doesn't seem likely)

All else fails, I guess I'll just have to find that magical DVD drive Tongue Or go on a Wii-bricking spree in hopes of something working.

Well just backup your nand with bootmii first, so you're brick safe. I had to restore my wii back to 3.3 after updating to 4.1 because suddenly my homebrew channel wasn't working, even through bootmii

I'll do so. *looks at 16MB SD card* "You must construct additional Pylons."

Okay, I'll do so after a quick trip to Amazon Tongue

Thanks everyone!
