Could anyone possibly give me a link to a disk drive i can buy that will work for backing up my wii and gamecube games, amazon, ebay, newegg, ncix, ect. sata preferred, portable acceptable, and IDE please try to avoid if at all possible. the reason i am asking like this is because after hours of searching through the site i found no definite answer, nor list of drives that work with a link.

Well have fun waiting then. The chances you will ever find one that cheap is slim to none.

You could get an internal sata disk refurb in that price range. Yikes. Not suggesting this, just pointing out the feasibility.

I also have a bunch of used 1TB Seagate SATA drives that I've erased and tested extensively (I discarded the failed ones). I'll sell you one for $35 + shipping. I'll include a SATA cable if you need one.

Wait I thought we were talking about optical disk drives. Not hard disk drives. People really should stop using the term "disk drive" for this reason.

Ha. Now that you mention it, that makes a lot more sense. I didn't understand why he wanted to "back up" his Wii games to an HD, but who am I argue?

@op, do you mean an optical drive to rip game discs, or a hard drive?
