Does the 3570K and the 3770K hold the same relation than the 2500K and the 2600K? If so, then I'll stick with the 3570K. IMO It's not worth the extra cost for a relatively small gain in performance.

*Corei5 3570K *Nvidia 9800GT 1GB DDR3
*Motherboard Asus P8H77M-PRO *Win7 x64
*RAM 8GB DDR3(1600)

Yeah, they have the same relation as in that the 2500K/3570K have 4 cores/4 threads, while the 2600K/3770K have 4 cores/8 threads. The difference in clockspeed is also 100MHz.

The 3570K will be a great choice, you can follow some benchmarks done by MaJoR in the Ivy Bridge Benchmarks thread.

The difference is also 6MB vs 8MB in L3 Cache which people seem to forget.
Someone is probably gonna say the extra 2MB with the i7 models isn't worth it but I think it is.

Wow an entire 1-2% increase in performance! That's definitely worth a 50% increase in cost.

Ok, so I got my parts, put them together and.....

The performance of the 3770 is good as long as I don't play most games in 3D, like Super Mario Galaxy 2, Zelda: SS. Unfortunately for me, I can't return the CPU, and the base part of the replacement heatsink I bought that fits over the metal CPU latch is too big to fit...

So now I have to spend money to send one part back and the other I can only sell right now. UndecidedUndecidedUndecided

With that said... anyone want to buy an i7 3770 for $300? My loss, your gain!

edit: Nevermind, I found a buyer.

Playing games in 3d won't increase the CPU load, as it only depends on the GPU. Playing demanding games and/or using LLE audio increase CPU demand.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Radeon Vega 56

The CPU does affect performance though. If it doesn't, why didn't I get 60fps in SS:Brawl with my old cpu, like I do now when playing 3D?
