Disabling Windows Aero Results in Slowdown?

Hi guys,

It appears disabling aero, and using a basic theme, in Win7 x64 results in a slowdown for me. I can run Donkey Kong Returns at full speed with aero enabled. Once aero disabled, framerates drop into 30-40 fps. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a work around/solution? Not an earth-shattering discovery (I can just enable aero if I want to use dolphin); however, my logic tells me disabling aero should result in a performance boost--if any--rather than a huge performance hit.

Thanks,

Eric

because disabling Aero disables the compositor which is required for full Direct3D performance.

not to mention you increase cpu usage everywhere else.

anyone that disables Aero should be headshot.
