With the recent discovery of the logging performance impact, I was wondering if disabling save states would have any similar impact? I personally never use them, and would love an option to disable them if it meant a speedup

Only if the emulator saved states in the background regularly would something like that have some small impact in performance. It is all manual though, as long as you don't touch it, it won't get used.

The logging thing was a bug; disabling them is a hotfix. The actual fix would be to find what filemon is doing to cause slowdowns, but, we didn't want to have a slowdown hanging around for months by default while a real fix was located.

No it wasn't.

That it slowed down? That's a bug, logging shouldn't affect performance. And if it does, that limits its usefulness.

No, it's not a bug. It didn't do anything it didn't have to. Putting the iso on an ssd or ram disk would surely eliminate the problem. Bad performance isn't a bug.

Doesn't make it any less true. It's just one game doing something stupid, that causes it to bottleneck on hdd reading. That's not a bug.

You mean 1080 avalanche? I wasn't aware that game had code programs, considering its a nintendo game. That and Billy Hatcher are the only games that had a logging related issue for me.
