Disabling Idle Skipping Increases My Performance

Hey guys,

Just downloaded Dolphin, so bear with me. I am using Dolphin version 4.0-652 on a 64 bit Windows 7 system. I've read many of the guides on performance and configuration here.

My laptop specs are:
Intel i3 2.4 GHz processor
Intel HD Graphics (1st Gen) (yes these things are still around)

Dolphin Config:
Everything default except:
-disabled Idle Skipping from ROM properties and from Dolphin Config options
-using Direct3D graphics settings (OpenGL 3.0 not supported on my graphics card)

Now with these horrendous specs, I did not expect to be able to run Melee on Dolphin. However, it works just fine after I disabled Idle Skipping. I run at around 40-50 fps on Battlefield and Final Destination. Before disabling idle skipping, the fps was still 40-50, but the game was very slow for some reason, and the audio was mucked up. Any idea on what is going on here, as idle skipping is supposed to speed up right?

I still have problems with some levels and textures (Fountain of Dreams kills me). Is there anyway to disable water animation effects in particular?

Thank you.

@Zee530 - Yo, please quote the offending text next time, else the OP can edit his or her post, and then any allegations of downloading games are a case of "he said, she said" with no evidence for me to make a judgement. I know you're a veteran member, but I can't enforce the rules on your word alone.

@planetcorgi - I am inclined to believe Zee530 (who's been around for quite a while) is correct that you in fact downloaded a game, rather than making a simple "typo". Downloading games is against the rules, the result of which gets you banned. Without solid proof though, I'm just going to close your thread.
