I still think it's a mistake to remove D3D9 entirely from the revisions. There's still stuff that's glitchy with D3D11 (in particular HD packs), and personally as an ATI user (because NVIDIA seems to benefit the most from OGL) I don't really feel inclined to be forced to use OGL that's potentially slower than both D3D9/D3D11 to make those glitches disappear.

Oh well, I'll be using Dolphin 4.0-146 until there's a workaround for those issues.

I don't get why ATi users are being so ungrateful. The removal of D3D9 is probably going to benefit you more than NVIDIA users in the long run with the introduction of Integer Shaders, which are faster on those cards than their geforce counterparts.

The fact they removed D3D9 now just means that work can begin, things can be fixed and merged much more easily. Use the outdated builds until then, that's 4.0 was made for. Also, report the bugs! If the bug isn't on the issue tracker, ADD IT. I fully understand that it's buggier than OGL, but a lot of the bugs it has that D3D9 doesn't are simply from it emulating more stuff than D3D9.

Report bugs, wait for the performance boosts that will come. Until then, I don't mind those that prefer using D3D9, especially on weaker computers.

We're not being ungrateful. We just want an option to have an alternative to pick still. (in this case D3D9), purely because OGL and D3D11 aren't 100% capable of running certain things, while D3D9 does it fine. I already mentioned that in an earlier post. I've had more problems running OGL than D3D9 tbh. That's why I'm not a fan of being forced to use it to be able to gain access to HD texture packs. Especially when they could've just left the portion of D3D9 in as an optional thing. They just won't have to give people support for it if problems do arise.

From what I understand, and I may be wrong here so please correct me if I am, DirectX 11 and OpenGL will never be 100% capable as long as DirectX9 exists to hold them back due to certain shared code.
If that is the case then your argument is self defeating. If DirectX9 is so important to you then stay with 4.1 until DirectX 11 and OpenGL are done to your satisfaction.

Not all of the AMD/ATi users are ungrateful, in fact, most people have taken the removal very well. I'm just saying I don't get the mindset of the ones that do. Beyond what was said above me, I can't really add anything. 4.0.1 is the option that was given; the last stable build with D3D9.

Now that you have that, the developers can break whatever they want while adding new features that will make the eventual next release even greater. Development builds are for development, after all.

You can use an old build or you can use an unofficial build Tino has been working on. You don't need to upgrade. I hear what you're saying. However, the quality of Dolphin's video code is not first-rate and they let D3D9 code get in the way of D3D11 and OpenGL code. In order to improve D3D11 and OpenGL, they chose to drop D3D9 which was easier than improving the code for each back-end to not mess with each other.

Actually, it's kind of pointless to discuss this now. D3D9 has already been removed but you still have a choice. You can always use an old build. And if you want to use the most stable build with D3D9, you should help Tino test his DX-Final build if you have time. Nobody knows when D3D11 issues will be fixed. The custom textures issue, for example, has been reported almost 1 year ago now.
