This is a complain. Sure, this is free software but as any of us out there, I still would like to say something.

Whereas F-zero was fully playable on Direct X12 using my Surface Pro 4 (4gb intel i5 6500u) now I'm reduced to 3/4 of speed with other APIs.

And vulkan simply does not work. It simply freezes my tablet.

Kindly, If you are removing a feature... at least have the decency to have the alternative (namely vulkan) working.

Regards.

This is free software that volunteers work on when they get the chance. They can add / remove features as they see fit. The DX12 backend was very buggy, causing more problems than fixes. It hadn't been worked on in a long time, so they wisely decided to remove it for now. If you don't like it, you can always still use your real Wii or GC hardware.

Quite frankly, I think the dev's deserve a thanks for all the hard work they put into the emulator and getting it to work as well as it does

Nobody forced you to update. Continue using the last build with D3D12. Problem solved.

Use Direct3D 11. It still exists.

Honestly, looking at your profile, the problem isn't that D3D12 was removed, it's that your specs aren't that great. You have a U (ultra low voltage) CPU, so it'll throttle before it reaches a very high clock rate, and you only have an integrated Intel GPU. Dolphin requires at least some power--more than a Surface Pro can provide (especially since those things get HOT).

The problem with Vulkan is that currently driver support is still pretty spotty when it comes to Intel iGPU's. Once they fix that, you'll be able to enjoy Vulkan just like how D3D12 was.

Or if you want, go ahead and fix the D3D12 branch. If you fix the bugs and maintain it, it could be re-merged.

Trying to launch many games with Vulkan instantly crashes to desktop for me as well, so it may not be a problem strictly with his hardware.

You're comparing apples to oranges. The OP never said that using Vulkan caused the emulator to crash to the desktop. His system is slow for any backend they use. Vulcan, D3D, OpenGL, etc. If you have a problem with the Vulcan backend, post your own thread on the issue. Your post isn't relevant to what the OP was complaining about, or what kurausukun was saying.
