Question
so i want to test out the new DirectX 12 backend for myself, and see how it fairs on older but supported hardware.

however, upon selection i receive a "Critical Error".

now, i was like "okay... thats odd"   im running windows 10 and i have checked and my GPU is supported to run DirectX12.  its fully updated and everything so Dolphin must be incorrect.

so i checked and this is my DxDiag

as you can see, im only getting DirectX 11 support even though i know i SHOULD be getting DirectX 12.

so, ive googled and there is literally no DirectX 12 runtime download anywhere to be found.   so i can only assume the people currently using/testing the experimental backend know something i dont?

please help before i pull all my hair out in frustration.

Maybe the dx12 gpu driver is a beta driver and you installed the latest stable driver?

that should'nt be the case, if it were.  the the product page would not list it as supporting directx 12 until after it left beta.

As far as I am aware Fermi GPUs only support up to D3D12 Feature Level 11.

Unless the DX12 backend doesn't force you to use a specific Feature Level, you are out of luck.

what does this even mean?

also, it dosent really matter either way since the DxDiag picture i included clearly shows that DirectX 12 isnt even being picked up, so either its not installed or i need to do something that the people testing/using the backend know something i dont.

DirectX 12 runtimes are included in the base install of Windows 10.

okay... than how do i run the installer for it??

if you looked at the provided screenshots you'd clearly see they are in fact NOT installed.

It shouldn't matter to you. It just means you're missing out on stuff the Dolphin DX12 backend doesn't even use.

This clearly looks like a bug, however you could try uninstalling your driver with DDU (Display Driver uninstaller) and reinstalling the newest release from NVIDIA.

okay, would this even matter? i mean this OS install is less than a month old and the current driver im using is the only one thats been installed. so i doubt its a conflict, usually those only pop up after a lot of driver updates over time.
