Trying to play Dokapon with my friend again and now we're having desync issues when we connect the emulated wiimote

And what version is your friend using (should be the same otherwise it shouldn't connect)? Are all your settings exactly the same? post pictures of all your setting dialogs somewhere, and he has to do the same thing. then make sure both are using the exact same settings (4 eyes see more than 2 Wink ). To be completely sure, also make sure that both your ISO's have the same MD5 hash.

I believe dolphin will refuse to even try if they are different.

So it is impossible to compress your Wii game if you want to use NetPlay? Because the MD5 will change recognizably when you compress it.

Dolphin does not check that the MD5 hashes are the same, since that would take too much time. A scrubbed ("compressed") dump will work on netplay with an unmodified dump as long as they're dumped from identical discs.
