No, no: it depends on the case and cooling system design and, in general, negative pressure designs (fans blow hot air outside) are more common. The RVZ01, like other SFF cases, is a borderline design.

Some use Launchbox, but the big picture mode isn't free.

I plan to switch to Launchbox in the future (I already purchased the premium license) but for now I use EmulationStation. If you do not have big (thousands) of roms the official version is fast enough, otherwise I customized (stabilized) the unstable branch that uses sqlite db instead of xml files. I know, I should upload my work on github, I’m lazy and I swear I’ll do it in the future… for now I can provide my binaries.
