I've tried using reshade with dolphin to enable ray tracing is some games, though dolphin turns out does not give access to the depth buffer to allow reshade to work. This caught me off guard, considering dolphin iishuruka's filters do have access to the depth buffer, as well as cemu having full compatibility with reshade. Is there a way to allow reshade to work with dolphin? Can it be added? I would love to see wind waker with ray tracing, as it works great with breath of the wild.

Depth is... complicated. In some games it is pretty easy to access, and we can do things like stereoscopy with them just fine. But other games, not so much. Lots of games do shenanigans like rendering the game to a quad in front of the screen (yes, really), or (much more commonly) rendering effects to a quad in front of the screen. Because it would be annoying, complicated, and lots of things will break, we haven't really had much desire to expose the depth buffer.

Ishiiruka's rendering pipeline was very different from master even before ubershaders, extremely different after, and even more so after the videocommon rewrite. It was designed to allow easy access to accurate and reliable depth information. master is not. Also note that Tino has been unable to keep up with master because he would have to rewrite pretty much all of his features to work with master. It's a massive amount of work.

And as May said, it flat out doesn't work for some games, even on Ishiiruka.

And assuming it would be too much effort for the Ishiiruka branch to add depth buffer to reshade?
