Hello, I am having a problem with running BT3 on my desktop, even while using low settings. My PC specs are:
Win 7 64-bit
8 GB RAM DDR3
2 TB HDD
2GB GeForce GTX 660
Intel Core i5 4670k CPU @ 3.4Ghz

I am also using Dolphin version 4.0-71-x64.

I am curious why I am having trouble with running the game smoothly. It occasionally runs at about 28 fps, but it slows down to 8 fps when the fighting gets intense. Now, I can understand why this would happen on lower end machines, but I was under the impression that my rig would be able to run the game efficiently, even with the graphics at 1080p. If someone could help me figure out what could be the problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

-Try using OpenGL with "Vertex Streaming Hack" checked. This reportedly works wonders on Nvidia GPUs.
-Overclock, if you can. (Seriously, even on a 4670K you might need to overclock for some games.)

Thanks for the advice guys. I tried what you suggested and it worked, for a bout 10 seconds :/ Then it would go in and out about every 7 seconds between speeds of 30 fps down to 17 fps.

Please let me know if showing any other settings from my pc. bios, or video card would be helpful. I also have the most recent nvida drivers installed as well.

Here are my settings in Dolphin:

Enable Dual Core
Enable Idle Skipping
JLT Recompiler
DSP HLE Emulation
Audio Backend: XAudio2
Backend: OpenGL
Adapter: Nvidia GTX 660
Full Screen Res: Auto
Aspect Ratio: Auto
Internal Res: 1x Native 640x528
Aniosotropic Filtering: 1x
Scaled EFB Copy
Ignore Format Changes
EFB Copies Texture
Accuracy: Fast
External Frame Buffer: Virtual
Fast Depth Calculation
Vertex Streaming Hack

What about Anti-Aliasing? Is it enabled?

Nope. I only listed what I have enabled. I'm really confused about this because I also have a macbook pro from 2009 that can play this game much better and without any lag, both in mac and in bootcamp windows xp. So I don't see why my newer desktop with an Nvida GTX 660 and a core i5 that is overclocked to 4.4Ghz can't run as well!

Check your temperatures.

While running dolphin? What about the GPU?

Check your GPU and CPU clock rates while you're at it to make sure nothing is throttling.
