Recently I purchased a retina display Macbook Pro, and needless to say, I was excited to try Dolphin on the new machine. Unfortunately, in almost every game I play, I'm experiencing some slight texture errors. They don't render the games unplayable, but certainly annoy me. The problems have occurred in Brawl, all the Zelda games I've tried, and others. For some reason certain textures on characters appear very dark, as in the screenshot. I've tried many revisions of Dolphin in an effort to remedy the problem, but none have fixed it. I'm running the default settings, although I have tried monkeying around with them, but always revert to the defaults in frustration. Here's my computer's specs, if that's any use:

2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
16GB 1600MHz memory
256GB flash storage1
Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory

I'd appreciate any help given! Thanks in advance!

SS is right. This is actually an issue with the lighting, and it seems specific to OS X's OpenGL driver. This isn't a problem with Windows or Linux. It might be fixed in the future (on part of the Dolphin devs) but for now, your best bet is to use Boot Camp for another OS.

I was afraid it might be something like that... how is it then, that many of the mac users on youtube run Dolphin without the problem? Is this only a problem on newer operating systems? I'm running Mountain Lion currently, but the same occurred with Lion.

My guess is that it was probably something introduced in OS X Lion. Mountain Lion just came out, but the problem has been around for longer than that. I remember a couple of OS X users getting this with Xenoblade Chronicles. It's hard to say anything about YouTube vids without seeing specific examples you have in mind.

Out of curiosity, how does Dolphin 3.0 handle?

3.0 delivers the same results. I didn't have any specific video in mind, I just had difficulty finding any instances of this problem anywhere! Maybe I just didn't look hard enough...

Well, the lighting issue is pretty severe, they probably didn't want to post videos of an experience marred by graphical glitches. I know I wouldn't :p

Most of the Mac specific issues get complained about here on the forums rather than elsewhere, since we're the go-to community for Dolphin. I guess, without knowing what to look for, it is somewhat hard to find this kind of stuff. I have a pretty good handle of what problems people get, but that's just me, since I'm here daily.

Yep, I've got the same problem. My Macbook Pro Retina runs on OS X 10.8.1. Deal with it or use Windows 7 through Bootcamp Wink

Does this bug affect all games on OSX Lion/Mountain Lion, or just specific ones? I know it was already pointed out for Twilight Princess.

Also, hsa someone figured out a pattern in the OS version/GPU that causes this issue?
