I know there are a lot of threads on this already, and I used the search function and read about a dozen of them but nothing in any of the old threads was able to help.

Trying to load custom textures (button icons for Xenoblade), but they arent working.

Textures are in /Dolphin/User/Load/Textures/SX4E01
Game is NA Xenoblade, so its SX4E01
Load Custom Textures is on
EFB Copies is on RAM

Let me know if I need to provide any more info.

Thanks!

A) EFB copies doesn't need to be set to RAM for Xenoblade AFAIK.

B) Try all the values of texture cache accuracy. Although I'm told it shouldn't, it can affect the names Dolphin assigns textures, so if it isn't set to the same value as it was for the guy who created the texture pack, Dolphin will look for textures with different names to the ones they have. If you find the value they used, then it should start working.

c) There's a chance the names have been screwed up in some other way, which would mean you'd have to rename them all. To do that, you'd need to turn on Dump textures, and then check the names matched between the old and new textures.

A) Hmm, ok. I forget where I read that. Tried it with both Texture and RAM, no dice.

B) Texture Cache Accuracy slider only has 3 positions for me: Safe ---- <the middle> ---- Fast
Tried all 3, no luck.

Aaaaand figured it out. When I tried to get it to dump the textures for C), I found that it wasnt dumping to the location I expected. So I hunted down where it DID dump the files to, put the Load/... folder in there, now it works!

Thanks for the help!

By the way, have you got it to simultaneously load custom and dump original textures? Whenever I turn both on, it only dumps the originals, but Neobrain is under the impression this isn't supposed to happen, and has decided it's my fault it doesn't work for me.

Hmmm... It doesn't work for me AT ALL. I made a bug report, which was predictably incorrectly marked invalid.

I don't know which bug report you are talking about, but we have more than enough well-done issue reports on our tracker that prove that we don't mark reports as invalid without reason.

Would it help if I uploaded a compressed "MyDocuments/DolphinEmulator" folder to test?

Any copywrong problems with including Dump, Load, and Wii folders?
I retested on laptop with clean profile other than Wii folder. Still broken OpenGL.
