Well, I ran into an issue. When trying to convert this SMS pack (half resolution + optimized PNG) to DDS, the files simply get copied instead of being converted.

I get something like this on screen for each texture:
File : GMSE01_ff75b4dd_5.png
Message : Non-texture file copied to \~ConvertedTextures (DDS)

Is that because the textures are in the old format?

Yes they must be in the new format, or files that aren't detected as textures get copied. This is so pack uploaders don't have to keep track of stuff like text documents, screenshots, etc. when converting/uploading multiple packs. I don't bother with images that are not in the new texture format because there is no way to know what the original dimensions are or if it's a mipmap texture. And there are few clean ways to distinguish a texture from a screenshot.

This pack has mostly been converted here.

To rescale it yourself, just run the script using the option Rescale Textures at Fixed Integer. I'm guessing you want to use a scale of like 4, and DDS can still be selected as the output.

I think I'll try to rescale the pack myself because the converted pack you linked to is at full size. Unfortunately, I have a small SSD for the OS and I keep the Dolphin user folder there so that textures and cache load as fast as possible. Since my space is limited, I'm trying to reduce the size of the pack since I don't see much visual difference in my 1080p displays, but I want to keep it in DDS format because it does show a performance improvement vs. png.

Another alternative for me is to simply convert the pack to the new format using dolphin's built-in function for that purpose, and then convert it to DDS. If I go this route, do I have to play the game to completion first to ensure all textures were converted to the new format or is there a shortcut to get them all converted faster?

You will need to access every part of the game that has at least one unique texture, so yes, you need to play it to completion.

OK.  Thanks for the info.

I'm getting an error message because "identify.exe" is not present in my ImageMagick folder (I use ImageMagick 7.0.0.0 from here: https://www.imagemagick.org/download/beta/ImageMagick-7.0.0-0~beta20160411-Q16-x64-static.exe)

Thanks I'll check it out. They renamed 'convert' to 'magick' before in the v7 branch so I'm not surprised they either renamed or removed identify...

Edit: So I'm not sure how to actually use identify in these beta versions. What's weird is the v7 here > http://nextgen.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php does still have all the separate executable files (identify, composite, mogrify, etc). I tried using something like magick.exe -identify in the version you linked and it doesn't work, gives me an error no matter how I use it. I'll try to figure it out eventually, but its low on my priorities at the moment.

Downgraded to older version of ImageMagick, and now I'm getting a new error:
"Confirm
the item at <temp folder directory>\CTT-PS_Temp has children and the recurse parameter was not specified. If you continue, all children will be removed with the item. Are you sure you want to continue?"
Every time I press "a" or "y" to continue, it asks again, but this time with t <temp folder directory>\CTT-PS_Temp\Validate, then with t <temp folder directory>\CTT-PS_Temp\Extracted, then with Validate again, forever. What should I do?

EDIT: Noticed there was a new version of the tool available, it seems to work in 5.5.

Yeah I was having some issues with paths between v5.2-5.5 because I noticed the way I was doing things was sloppy(er than usual), and I made a few mistakes along the way fixing things up. I was missing or using different arguments in different orders between PowerShell functions Move-Item, Remove-Item, Rename-Item, Copy-Item, and Get-ChildItem so I tried to fix them all to be consistent. Most of these need -LiteralPath to work with texture packs that have odd characters in the paths to textures, some of them -Recurse to work with folders that contain additional folders/files, and -Force just to be safe in case files are read-only or hidden and to avoid prompts. But as you noticed, all of that has been fixed.

I'd also like to make it so the ImageMagick version is able to be selected if v7 is found before v6 (and both are installed). To explain why I probably won't attempt to support v7 fully until it's beyond beta is because it keeps changing. This script used to work with earlier betas of v7, but not anymore it seems, so I'm going to wait until a full release to try to figure out the new version and/or start asking questions on their forums. The main problem I'm having is the removal of "identify.exe", which is very important to get the texture dimensions of DDS textures because it only reads the image (I use .NET to get PNG/JPG dimensions). It's possible to get dimensions with certain flags using "convert.exe" or the new "magick.exe", which tells info about the image after it would be converted. But this doesn't work on DDS textures generated with Ishiiruka tool because they are in a format that is not compatible and cannot be converted. Using "identify" does not give errors and works on any image I throw at it.
