Haha yeah the port is top tier. I'll have to play through it again eventually because it ended up becoming a project about 20% through. I just couldn't stand looking at the grainy UI anymore after how much of an upgrade everything else looked compared to the PS3 version, so I started working on a HD pack. The eagerness to have a somewhat complete pack that I could share set in, so I rushed through everything to get the relevant dumps. And I look forward to the PC sequel as well, because personally I liked the second one much more (although both are great games).

I don't own a PlayStation 3/4 or a PlayStation Vita, so it is just the PC ports for me (yeah, I don't see this franchise anytime on a Nintendo system). So yeah... The long wait for the Cold Steel II port for PC begins. Luckely, the devs said they would also add additional voice acting similar to the PC port of Cold Steel I and they seem to want to port all entries in the series for the PC. Since XSeed localized Trails in the Sky SC to the PC (I was not aware of FC until SC was released on PC) I fell immediately in love with the series, even beyond Chrono Trigger. So yeah, when I heard Trails of Cold Steel came out for the PC, I had to have it. The texture pack for Cold Steel is outstanding, I should really replay it sometime again with those textures... If it were not for the fact it took me 80 hours to complete my first run. Luckely for me... Danganronpa V3 is coming out next month for PC. That should keep me occupied until Cold Steel II is available for PC. Welp... I am supposed to work on my texture packs... And then there is the upcoming DLC for Breath of the Wild. But yeah, I am going off-topic here. So I just stop here before I de-rail the thread into a Trails-series topic. Anyway. I suspect I soon start on using BC7 for the first time for my next update. I don't think DTX1/5 has much reason to keep using going forth my here on. Cloud space is limited enough so having both DTX1/5 and BC7 versions would be too much. I still guess I can still support PNG and that the preference for DDS goes towards BC7. 08-25-2017, 02:26 AM
That new BC7 format is really nice improvement over DTX5.
I haven't honestly expected much and was pleasantly surprised! Thanks a lot.

Bighead, do you know what this warning implies?
Warning : Texture failed creation and was not converted! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Texture : tex1_32x8_0dc092b22874e0fb_fc011e1cd970ffbd_8.png (PNG) Path : Super Smash Brothers HD V1.0 (DDS BC7)\NAL\Stages\1P Stages\Bonus Stages\Mario Style\Rectangle Grates Dimensions : 256x64 : 4,00 Scale : 8,00x8,00 Move-Item : Could not find part of the path. The majority goes without issues. Could be less than 1% of the texures which display this warning.
This is just a guess, but it looks like you are going over the path limit with some images. Windows has a limit of 248 characters for a path, and 260 characters including the file name. For example, using your entire path to output one of the stages ends up as...
K:\Software\Emulation\HD Textures\Dolphin\Super Smash Brothers HD\Super Smash Brothers HD V1.0 (DDS BC7)\~CTT_Generated\ConvertedTextures(DDS-BC7)\NAL\Stages\1P Stages\Bonus Stages\Fox Style\Animated Platforms\tex1_32x16_2ebf519ddab167a0_0873071f2fd99bd6_8.dds This path is a total of 261 characters and will most likely fail. You could try setting the output folder to somewhere with a shorter path like the root of a drive ("Z:\Here\" for example). I also noticed a double named texture: NAL\Characters\Samus\tex1_32x32_2f28a003d700ed52_8f9e51087d11204d_8tex1_32x32_2f28a003d700ed52_8f9e51087d11204d_8.png In the future I'll try to add an error message that is more clear on what is going on, rather than failing with no clues on Windows limits. 08-25-2017, 06:21 PM
Yup, thanks for the tip Bighead. That seemed indeed to be the issue. Onwards to converting DDS BC7 once again!

Hey Bighead I want to get your opinion on dumping all the textures from animal crossing GameCube. Is it feasible? Is it going to be really hard? I want to get them all because it'll make things so much easier. For example I'm having a difficult time getting all the grass textures in all the seasons, all the oak tree, pine and palm textures in all stages in all seasons, the faces and expressions for each face set at ever tan stage ect... It's simply impossible for one person to dump all these it would take forever. So I need a solution. I am willing to do what's required to make a program to achieve this.

You could try the dumping script for Paper Mario. If it uses the same texture formats it may work since I didn't exactly lock it to that disc specifically. It searches for any GCZ, ISO, or CISO. Just make sure to disable "Create Directories" as that is specific to Paper Mario.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/a4t2tb19ay...Hash_r4.7z If that doesn't work then I wouldn't know where to begin. I went on a mission that was specific to that game, and I wouldn't have been able to pull it off without Invader's initial research/script.
I'm having trouble configuring TexConv
Every other program, I had no issue installing, but this one confused me The GitHub provided 3 small exes and I thought it was some installer but clicking it does nothing So I just ignored it and configured the path to the exe CTT recognizes it along with the BC7 option But whenever I convert PNG to DDS, the image corrupts Like, I can't preview it whatsoever 09-05-2017, 07:26 AM
This is the one that is used:
https://github.com/Microsoft/DirectXTex/...exconv.exe BC7 can not be viewed natively by Windows. If you want to test to see if the image is working correctly, go to the "Advanced" options of the script and load the "Basic Image Viewer". Drag and drop the image and it should display. |
