I don't know what it takes, but stickying this thread would be nice.
Anything that makes it easier for people to start or maintain their texture packs should be stickied at the top of the forum so that it's readily available. 05-05-2017, 06:51 AM

Having trouble with the Texture/Output Path
It doesn't budge at all It just remains \Documents\Custom Texture Tool PS v23.1 EDIT: it only worked for 3/6 letter words like your Xenoblade example So I'm able to select RSBE01 (Brawl), but I can't select RSBE01\Textures\Stages\Bowser's Castle Is there some sort of character limit? 05-06-2017, 12:25 PM
Looking through the code it seems I specifically block paths that contain the tilde (~) or apostrophes (') from being valid (Bowser's is why it is not working). I understand why I blocked the tilde, that is used to know which paths to skip. If a path contains a tilde anywhere, it is skipped, even if it is a sub-folder. But I can't remember why I blocked apostrophes, these will work in sub-folders but not as the texture/output path. There is probably a reason that I don't remember at the moment.
I removed the apostrophe check from this version, but I'm not sure if it will have issues. http://www.mediafire.com/file/xx6j4ijt76...v23.1b.zip 06-03-2017, 02:43 AM

I'm not sure what you mean by "fix" it. If this is the way it's dumped then chances are this is how it is supposed to look. Unless of course there is a bug in Dolphin, which is unlikely.
Without the original texture on hand, I can only guess what is going on with it. It looks like the button didn't quite fit within the pixel space of 64x32, so pieces of it are cut from parts of the texture and fit together like a puzzle to create the final button in-game. What exactly are you trying to accomplish with it? Upscale? Retexture? (06-03-2017, 03:17 AM)Bighead Wrote: I'm not sure what you mean by "fix" it. All the other buttons dumped fine, just this one came out weird. There is also around 20+ copies of the same texture but with slightly different "cutting" These are the dumps I got: NAE.7z (Size: 67.08 KB / Downloads: 202) Thanks 06-03-2017, 04:06 AM
Yeah I hate textures like these, and this is a pretty extreme example. I'm not 100% sure how the game is using them. Probably your best bet is to assemble the full buttons like this and then retexture them. It appears there is only 2 variations so that won't be the hard part.
After you have fully retextured buttons, count the number of pixels that make up the pieces, and multiply them by whatever the upscale factor you are using. In this example, the 2nd piece is 8x26, using 4x you will have to sample the equivalent of the retexture (32x104) in the exact same scope that would overlap the bigger part of the button. The piece can be copied from the complete button, and then pasted into the position of the piece. Using math to get the exact coordinates of where pieces start, the size of the pieces, and where they overlap would probably save loads of time. I imagine getting it all lined up could be a nightmare, especially since in the above texture there's 2 black pixels in the top right, and I have no idea how they are used. Coloring them red and testing in game can show that. This does not look like it will be much fun so I wish you the best of luck. |
