Custom Rom for OpenGL

Hey,

I'm new here and not sure if this has been asked before. I unfortunately have a Samsung Galaxy S8 with a Mali CPU

I downloaded dolphin for 2 specific GC games. "Harry Potter the chamber of secrets" and "PK"

After some tweaking I got hp to work on Vulcan, but it's very unstable.
As far as I found out the opengl EXT buffer is now available on Mali CPUs for nearly a year but Samsung still fails to implement it.

So as far as I didn't miss anything I hoped that someone may recommend me a stable working custom ROM with opengl support, because by now I am so frustrated I don't even care about the last year of warranty left on my device and just want to be able to play my childhood classics on the go

Thanks in advance,
Schrolock

You will have better luck asking that on your device forum on XDA.

Typically custom ROMs will not differ in terms of GPU drivers.

All Samsung devices with Mali Txxx series are getting r22p0 driver version with official Oreo update, you should try to get it. According to OpenGL ES official reports, this driver version supports ext_buffer_storage.
PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / GTX 660 2GB / 16GB DDR4 3600MHz / Windows 10 Pro

Phones: Poco F3 8/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

The only Samsung device with G series that reported suport to this extension is the Galaxy Note 9 with 8.1.1, but probably S9 and S8 will support after update too.

https://opengles.gpuinfo.org/listreports.php?extension=GL_EXT_buffer_storage

In render search box type "mali-g" to filter.

Well, g71 doesn't show up there and I got the 8.0.0 update just 2 weeks ago... but who knows. Maybe in another 2 months or so...

You need Oreo 8.1 which means you have to wait little longer, Samsung is going to release Oreo 8.1 Update soon..

I'm not recommending to Flash Custom Rom to your Phone..
Most Custom Android Oreo Builds is Based on Samsung Oreo Beta 2 which is leaked Rom.

There's a stable Android 7.1.x Custom Rom. But who knows if your problem will solved?
Check the XDA for Stable Android 7 or Wait the official update : )

Don't think that samsung will update the s8/s9 to android 8.1 at all. They have so far always skipped those small updates. They will most likley directly go to android 9.0 but that will probably be no sooner than next year since it's samsung. Altough the beta might start soon.
