I am mistaken, I do not know where I got the idea in my head that they were different sized isos. they all 4 are 4.37 GB.

So, either we tell you to do a full texture dump and do it manually, or we work out how to use banners and tell you to give the custom versions custom banners.

they all 4 end up with the same folder for banners/saves. is there a way around this?

Maybe you might be able to change some of the text in a hex editor. I just remembered as I clicked on reply that when I opened a wii iso in a hex editor the first 50 bytes contained readable text including the name of the game. If you changed this text (while keeping its length in bytes the same you may get dolphin to identify them as different games. At risk of sounding like GLaDOS or 343 Guilty Spark I think I am a genius.

Try deleting the folder "User\Cache"...

the hex editor shows that the names are already different 'mario kart wii' as the original, 'kustom kart wii' as one of the customs. also, deleting the folder user/cache results in it being recreated at dolphin start-up, and loading up all the isos as the same as before.

if they all have the same folder for saves they all have the same titleid and will all display the same name.
TitleID determines save folder, in the dolphin iso properties window do they all show the same id?

yes, they show same name, and gameid. the only difference is the titlebar, it correctly states [isoname].iso, followed by regular mario karts # and title (example: Kustom Mario Kart Wii.iso: RMCE01 - Mario Kart Wii)

There must be some way to make the iso more custom than it already is. We need to find out how Dolphin identifies games and change the part of the iso it relies on.
