I want to do a cpu upgrade. My rig is a gaming rig I play everything on here Witcher 3, Call of Duty, Emulators, and etc.

Cooler right now is a Corsair H100i gtx AIO.

I am leaning towards Intel because it seems to have better performance when it comes to emulators.(If I am wrong by all means prove it)

Budget: $500.00 USD

Thank you for the help in advance.

Assuming USD.

There ya go. That'll play pretty much every modern AAA game without bottlenecking your GPU for several years.

If you're interested in overclocking (Dunno why you would on coffeelake), just get the K version of that i5.

Don't worry about the clock speed on the i5. It turbos to 4 ghz. And your cooling is more than sufficient to allow that. Make sure your cooler is compatible with LGA 1151, if not, no big deal. It comes with a stock cooler that will keep it within reasonable temps.

Here's a Ryzen version if you care to compare the price.

Costs less, roughly 10-20% lower CPU performance depending on workload. Not super important for PC games. Fairly important for emulation. However Ryzen CPUs are generally fine for Dolphin.
