So I have a GTX 750 TI, 12 GB of ram, and a crappy pentium 3.00 ghz cpu, I am getting a good I5 3570K Quad Core cpu upgrade, can anyone tell me if that cpu is going to be good for emulation? thanks.

Also, would that new I5 3570K Quad Core run lord of the rings the third age okay? it's pretty much the only game I want to emulate.

If your mother board is socket 1155 then yes its a good choice going for the 3570k but only really if you overclock it to around about 4.2ghz and higher which will probably run your game easily (i think your game would run properly at stock speeds). To overclock you must have a motherboard that allows overclocking to do this ie z77 board.

If you have a different board its worth going for the haswell range buy a socket 1150 board that allows over clocking ie z97 then get the i7 4790k or i5 4690k for absolute best performance and you probably could get away with stock speeds for the majority of the games. A lot of the newer haswell processors at 3.5ghz and above will surpass the 3570k in dolphin even if the 3570k is overclocked

No , it's not good for your budget
Dolphin is a dual core application
According to Dolphin Benchmark , i3 4130 @ 3.4GHz is on par with overclocked i5 3570k @ 4.4GHz
You can even get the little monster Pentium G3258 plus MSI Z97 mobo bundle for $100 ($90 after debate)
Here is our latest Benchmark :
https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-20...hw-canucks
G3258 @ 4.7GHz is almost as fast as the fastest Dolphin CPU i7 4790k @ 4.7GHz

Stop wasting your time with a dead mobo and move on the latest one

Works fine here. But you'll probably have to overclock :p
