Yeah as long as the dimensions are the same it shouldn't matter. Case fans have screw holes too you know.

CPU fans (in this form) are just case fans with shorter wires, really. In fact, I'm currently using a CPU fan in the front of my case, and I'm pretty sure I slapped a spare case fan on the heatsink for this one old computer that I'm keeping around for some reason. It's definitely not to measure how Dolphin performs on a sempron 2800+ and an IGP from back when everyone used XP, no siree.

Well anyway I now have a heatsink from a AMD Phenom II X4 955 on there. The fan doesn't even screw onto it it just has 4 tiny clips. The fan isn't perfect but it's significantly quieter.

My only issue now is I can't find a program that'll actually show me the cpu's temp. The only one that's even close to working is CUPID which shows the idle temp at 40c when the bios shows ~30c.
