If you mean using the iGPU in the 7700HQ as your GPU, then you won't get 4k or 6x IR.

No I know that. I mean whether or not combining them will give sufficient performance. I know the iGPU in the CPU will not be nearly enough for that, but I also know that emulators are CPU intensive and I don't know if the CPU load will go up with higher resolution or if it will only need a powerful GPU to handle that.

I don't think I will need it, but I want to have the ability if it comes with any improvement without spending too much more.

I personally don't see too much of a difference, and I'm about 1.5m or about 5ft of my 55" UHD+HDR TV
Check my profile for up to date specs.

That's good to know, because I'm 6' from my 55" UHD TV, so we'll probably have a similar experience. It looks like I'll have to wait another month or two, as some unexpected expenses came up, but I know what I'll be doing for my next setup.

A big thank you to everybody who pitched their knowledge in here!

also, GTX 1050 won't run dolphin at 4k in all areas with games that need accurate/safe texture set to safe and/or efb to ram, even one gtx1070 may gets some drops in this scenario, unless you are running at Vulkan backend.

for 1440p PC gaming you will need at least one gtx 1070ti or one gtx1080 to run most modern games at max with AA off.

I run at 1080p 8X MSAA and 16X Anisotropic filtering 60FPS with Vulkan on a RX470 8gb that's OCd. A RX 580 8gb should run 4k with some enhancements turned down wit Vulkan.
