Question
I'm wondering since I've heard you'd need a pretty beast CPU to run Quake 3 games if my CPU can be enough to handle it possibly w/o overclocking at 100% speed or relatively close to that.
A fellow uploaded a video of Finest Hour being played at 1080p fullspeed with the i7-2600k overclocked to 4.80GHz, would the i7 4790k be similar to the overclocked i7-2600k?

I haven't bought this CPU just yet, can't test it myself but would like to see how it'll handle maybe on a lighter overclock.

Current Specs:
AMD FX-6300 Stock
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
Sapphire R9 270 Stock
Corsair CX500

Planned upgrade:
i7 4790k
Asus Z97-A
Corsair CX750

Feel free to nitpick on my upgrade choice, my budget for the upgrade is around $500.

The i7-4970K will run paces around the i7-2600K. Haswell is the king of Dolphin due to the fast single-core speeds, and Dolphin is a dual-core program so it will really benefit from the stock speed being 4.0 Ghz and being Haswell.

I don't think you'll need an overclock for Call of Duty with the i7-4790K

Sweet deal, that's very good to know now. Are there anyone with the i7 4790k that can confirm this or has it already been confirmed?

See Official Dolphin Benchmark
Haswell i3 4130 @ 3.4GHz is as fast as i5 3570k @ 4.4GHz or i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz
Since Dolphin is a dual core application , i3 & i5 & i7 have similar performance
According to the benchmark , i7 4790k (stock speed : 4.4GHz with turbo boost) is almost twice as fast as i7 2600k (stock speed)
