The typical "can I run it" post. Undecided

Could this laptop run Brawl smoothly on the lowest settings?

Well Nintendo no longer has servers for Wii games, so you could only do netplay.

I don't think you'll be able to reach fullspeed.

The i7 740 might absolutely will not be able to run SSBB, mostly because of that awful clock. I'm confused as to why such a system has 16GB of RAM though, it couldn't possibly use half of that, could it?

It actually supports up to 32GB.

You're probably right about the processor, I don't think it would work.  Sad

But I have one last idea before I give up:

Since Dolphin only uses 2 cores, I could set a maximum limit of 2 active cores via MSConfig.
This will make the turbo raise the clock speed to 2.5GHz (with 2 cores active) or 2.93GHz (with 1 core active)

Combined with a program to limit background processes, and possibly Throttlestop to overclock.

Would this make any noticeable improvement?

Thanks for your input.

Uh, not what I meant by "couldn't use half of that RAM", I meant that your system (CPU+GPU) couldn't utilize 8GB. Also, I wouldn't suggest OCing a laptop.

So I guess I screwed myself over with buying this?

I saw it had an i7 and plenty of RAM, so I thought it would be good. Confused
I don't know how to tell one graphics card from another; shows how much I know I guess....

I wonder though, does anyone around here play dolphin smoothly with a laptop? Huh
I'd like to see that one. Smile (though it probably cost some big $)

Mine does, and it was like $500. You should probably do more research before spending money on electronics.

Of course it could use that RAM, why would you think otherwise?
