I recently bought a new computer. I put all my game files and my memory card onto Google Drive and OneDrive when I was copying my files over from my old computer (instead of using a flash drive or other external storage device). I downloaded all those files onto my new computer, and then later tried to run the only game I actually ended up playing on my old computer, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life (GC).
The problem is that, when I try to load the save files on that memory card, it tells me that the card is corrupted and I need to format the card, losing all my saves. Now, the thing is with Harvest Moon is that it literally takes forever to make any progress in that game, and obviously I don't want to lose my progress. I have never used save states, only the memory card.
I've tried a few different things, including viewing a few different threads, but nothing helped to solve my issue.
I used both an older version of Dolphin on my old computer (something like 3.0 or 3.5—I don't know and can no longer check) and the newer 5.0, which I have on this computer. When I switched versions on the old computer, everything seemed to be fine. (Though I wouldn't be adverse to using a newer, developmental version now if it might help.)
When I try to resume my game save by selecting "Continue" (and it must recognise on some level that there was a game saved to the card because the "Continue" option is available—it is normally greyed out if there is no save detected), it tells me to format the 'corrupt' card.
If I do that (with a copy of the memory card), it tells me that "There is no system file for this game on the Memory Card in Slot A." If I select "New Game", it gives me the same message, and then the option to "Create a system file". I tried doing that with another copy of the memory card, but it doesn't recognise any pre-existing save because the data was lost when the card was formatted—it returns the bleak "there is no system file" message from before when I try to continue with my save.
Also, interestingly enough, a copy of the memory card works just fine with another game (Pac-Man World 3), though is still "corrupt" according to the game. I have even replaced my copy of the game with another version but to no avail. It seems to be an issue with the memory card itself, I think.
Can anyone give any tips or pointers as to what could A) be causing the issue and B) how to fix it? It would be much appreciated.
