I5 750

What NaturalViolence said. Dolphin tends to run better on intel cpu's AND the i5 750 is a better processor all around.
Laptop:
i5 520m :: 4GB RAM :: ATI 5650 (700, 900) 11-02-2010, 07:10 AM
But the difference in clock?
Change much? The Phenom X4 II Have a good performance? VERY Thanks 11-02-2010, 03:49 PM

Phenom II X4 performs very well....it's just that you asked which one performs better. And for dolphin the answer is the i5 750 hands down. Keep in mind that for the i5 750 2.8GHz is the minimum clock and 3.33GHz is the turbo clock, so it will run at 3.33GHz when you are running dolphin as long as you keep it cool. Plus it produces better performance per clock (slightly) then the PII X4 955 thanks to out of order execution, dynamic cache allocation, etc. Add to that dolphin is a floating point intensive sse based application which tend to generally perform better on intel cpus. And then add to that the fact that dolphin is usually bottlenecked by memory bandwidth when efb to ram is being used and the i5 750 has nearly twice the memory bandwidth of a PII X4 955 at stock clock rates. Of course it is also a more expensive cpu/platform and the PII X4 955 is still a very good cpu for dolphin. I would highly advise picking up an i5 750 for dolphin.

I found the Core I3 540 for a price even lower than the Phenom. He also has a good performance at the Dolphin and PCSX2? Quote:From what I know, these programs have a better performance on Intel ... Barely. This is more because they are flat out better cpus than because they are intel cpus. Phenom IIs are comparable to core 2 quads, not i3/i5/i7. Quote:I found the Core I3 540 for a price even lower than the Phenom. Yes it will perform very well. Obviously not as well as a 750 but it should be pretty close.
