Asrock Z97 Extreme 4 , Asrock Z97 anniversary for example i7 4790k can jump up to 4.4GHz automatically (through turbo boost) . Why do you even have to push yourself to overclock i5 4670k ? Asrock Z97 Extreme 4 , Asrock Z97 anniversary for example I just like the way the sabertooth z87 was designed. and I google searched about its features and it turned out to be worth the price.. but I still can't decide on the procie though,I wonder if i5-4570 will be enough? 11-10-2014, 03:57 AM
It's even worse . Why would you pair a locked multiplier CPU with a mobo that support overclocking . In other word , you can't overclock i5 4570
Sabertooth is designed for overclocking... Quote: I google searched about its features and it turned out to be worth the price.I fail to see the logic here . How can that thing help you ? You pair a weaker CPU with a high end mobo and then hope the CPU will perform much better or what ? Durability ? Despite paying premium price for the mobo , it still fail . I mean you better off with EVGA boards if you want a durable board . In fact , Asus warranty service is good but their quality is just moderate if not horrible (for me) . When your warranty is expired , it's all over I rather save that extra money on CPU or GPU . And no matter how hard you push i5 , i7 4790k will slaughter it Laptop: Mini PC :: 11-10-2014, 01:39 PM

I guess it pretty much worthless if I bought a processor such as that for that kind of mobo... any good advice?
I7 4790K can boost up to 4.4GHz automatically (keep in mind this is i7 4790k @ 4.4GHz , not i7 4790 @ 4.0GHz) . That mean overclocking is not needed . You can pair it with h81 , B85 , h87 , Z87 , Z97 mobo (H81 is the cheapest)
Since this is the latest CPU from Intel , not all H81 /B85 / H87/ Z87 mobo will work with it .All Z97 mobo will work of course Here is i7 4790k Compatible Motherboards : https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboa...646i74790k Stay away from these brands : ESC , Foxconn , Supermicrp , Zotac If money was not a problem for you then you should get either Asrock Z97 Extreme 4 or NSI Z97 G45 which are high-end boards (gold caps , top of the line integrated audio = mid-range soundcard ....) , not as expensive as Sabertooth though Laptop: Mini PC :: 11-11-2014, 12:53 AM
Does he really need a Haswell CPU clocked that high though? Why not save money and just get an i5 4590 + a cheap H97 mobo?

For Future-proof of course
He won't have to upgrade his PC for a very long time Considering most PC games support multi-cores CPU . i7 has 4 cores 8 threads , i5 has 4 cores 4 threads . i7 is clearly a better choice Not to mention the super high-clock speed of i7 4790k , not only Dolphin but also RPCS3 (PS3 emulator) will run much better on it Laptop: Mini PC :: |
