Controller seen at config, but not in game

My controller, keyboard, mouse work fine when configuring the GCPad, but when I try to play any game, the games don't see my input. For example, when Spyro: A New Beginning (U) starts, a health warning comes up at the beginning with "Press any button to continue." flashing at the bottom. No matter what button I press, nothing happens.

Currently, I'm attempting to use a PS2 controller with USB adapter. This shows up as SDL/0/HID 6666:0667 in the GCPad configuration. It works fine there, and everything works in jstest as well.

OS: Arch Linux x86
Dolphin: 3.5

When you click the Config button and go to the Gamecube tab, make sure Port 1 is set to Standard Controller.

Try checking "Background input" in controller config dialog...

ExtremeDude2: Which settings are you asking about?
Jhonn: I saw that and tried it, but unforunately it didn't help.
Shonumi: You win (and I, by extension). Slot 1 had been set to <Nothing>. I changed it, and now the controller works.

Thanks!

I seem to have the same problem. I can see the controller in the options, changing buttons works too, but when in game, the controller doesn't respond, only the default keyboard and mouse works (even though it shouldn't since Pad 1 is set for gamepad). And I did change things in options as it was said in this thread so far. The controller I'm using is a Xbox wireless with Windows 8.1 pro x64 which works fine with PC games. The game I tried running is Xenoblade. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Xenoblade is a Wii game and I'm unsure if it's one of these games that allow using GC controller (like SSBB), so, try mapping your Xbox Controller to an emulated wiimote (more specific, map it to a emulated classic controller, that should work with Xenoblade Chronicles)...

It doesn't use the GC controller, but it can use the classic controller

Yes and for this game I recommend Classic Controller rather than Wiimote + Nunchuk
