Thanks very much again, both of you.
@Shonumi:
a) So it really turns out that ePSXe on Linux, unlike Windows, actually expects joystick instead of keyboard (hence the numbers)? If so I wouldn't mind not using ePSXe, but *what a shame* of their part...
b) After Invader's replies I searched more about RetroArch, and it turns actually it's not strictly an emulator, but kind of a "frontend covering many other existing emulators" as far as I understood by reading. I.e., they "rip" an emulator's core someway and put it in their frontend, rip another core, etc., and they keep adding cores from other emulators indeed. Heck, it even has cores from Mednafen itself. Oh, wait, Mednafen kind of does the same thing!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mednafen
Though Mednafen does have original cores (the PS1 one for example).
Have you tried RetroArch? Even though it seems a good option if wanting to play on Android despite being an "emulator" for general *advanced* users, would it still be "honorable" to use it? Or better Mednafen? Or better just keep with individual emulators?
c) Out of curiosity, any idea about what happened to the PS1 emu "pSX Emulator"?
Again, thanks all very much beforehand.
P.S.: I'm actually kind of handicapped. Since laptop I used to have was destroyed I've had to use home's local PC, which has Windows but I cannot make changes since it's not mine, hence using a Linux lightweight live distro called Slitaz. And lightweight in order to not take time for loading/booting and not needing the disk inside the CD/DVD drive all the time.
