Hello, long time user, first time poster. I am just curious why the controller options for gamecube was changed from version 4.0-8593 ? This has been my favorite version in terms of versatility in controller use, I prefer this version vs. all others and I wish this feature didn't change.
I am talking about how you can use a third party controller (in my case an xbox one) or the gamecube adapter seamlessly, without having to go through configurations to change back and forth.
For me it's especially convenient because I am using Launchbox as a front end with my television, and I use the XBOX one controller to navigate the menu. I can either keep playing gamecube games with the same controller without getting off the couch, or quickly grab a Wavebird all without going through the daunting task of minimizing and going through controller settings.
Also I want to mention the hybrid wiimote controller seems to have issues. If I choose to use a real wiimote, I can load the game in launchbox, the game comes up, I press one and two, the controller connects, it works fairly well.
What I really want to use is Hybrid wiimote, as I want to use a different controller as classic controller (not plugged into the wiimote), but it doesn't work like the real wiimote option. If I load a game from launchbox, my controller wil never be detected, nor will the wiimote connect. The only way for this to function is that I have to manually open the dolphin emulator up, press one and two to connect the wiimote, and only then can I launch a game.
There are two downsides to this, the other is that the wiimote HAS to be on in order to use a third party controller, therefore wasting batteries, why can't dolphin just "pretend" that the controller is connected until a real wiimote is synced so that the game allows me to use a "classic" controller?
Lastly, I want to mention that suddenly with all versions of the emulator I can only connect my wiimote one time after startup of the computer, after that, any time I load another game, my wiimote refuses to connect, and it frustrating because I swear it was working fine before....
Sorry if this seems like a rant, I've been going through different versions like crazy trying to find a good version, but they all seem to have their idiosyncrasies among controller settings, and they seem to slowly downgrade with newer and newer versions. I want to play 5.0 with all the game bugfixes but with the old controller settings =P.
I've been thinking about getting a Dolpin bar, and hoping that maybe that will help fix some of my issues.
