I'm trying to play Super Smash Bros Melee, I'm almost 100% sure that has GC Controller adapter support. I connected my controller properly to the game because it read it I activated all of the different buttons to the corresponding button on my controller and it should be working. But when I go into the game none of the buttons work, I can't even get past the main screen because I can't press start. I'm not sure what the issue is and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I've been trying to play Melee on my laptop for awhile now and am looking for a fix. I tried also using the newest version of Dolphin but it didn't even pick up my gamecube controller adapter so I converted back to 4.0.2

There is no good reason to use 4.0.2, now that 5.0 is out.

Also, if you have an official Wii U adapter (or a Mayflash), you can use the "direct connect" (i.e. adapter passthrough) feature. See the wiki for more details.
