Controller For Dolphin Android?

I'm able to use my GameCube controller to control my Samsung Galaxy s9; I can open/scroll through apps with the controller. I have an adapter from usb-female to usb-c and my controller has a usb-male connector. Again, I'm able to use the controller to control my phone, but, when I try to play a game with the controller, it is not responsive. I'm using dolphin 5.0 for android. I tried playing Twilight Princess and the controller did not work. The on-screen controller is annoying to use and I was just hoping there would be a way to use a real controller. Is there anyway I can get it to work?


Edit: I apologize for putting this in the wrong forum; I'm new here.
I did some searching and found out that it would work with a Wii-U GameCube adapter but I don't have one? Plus, my GameCube controller has a USB connector. Is it possible without it?

Did you map the controls in Dolphin's controller settings?

What do you mean? 
 I clicked on the gamecube controller adapter option and there's no option for mapping.

You aren't using a Wii U compatible GameCube controller adapter, so you need to select Emulated in the controller settings instead.
