I don't even think that this is the right forum, because I doubt that it has anything to do with the controller itself:

I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles, I saved the game at some point (like I did 100 times before). Suddenly my controller stopped working. This only happens at this savestate, when I start the game normally and save there, it works again. I use an Xbox360 controller, when I switch to keyboard, it's not responding either though.

I've been trying different builds, 191, 201, 72 (HLE Hack) ... but it's always the same.

I tried to connect the controller with "Alt + F5" or over menu, but this didn't help. If anyone has a clue on how to tell the game that the controller actually is connected (the game runs fine, it just doesn't respond to my inputs, in the statusbar, the Wiimote status stays at "Connecting..." ).

I could provide the save state if that helps.

amd radeon 5850 1gb
4gb ram
windows 7 x64

It's because the savestate remember your connection status... use controller disconnect/connect from hotkey menu (dolphin > options > hotkey settings) and when connected successfully, overwrite the last savestate.

Wait I'm sorry is "Alt + F5" a hotkey for wiimote 1?

Sorry if I didn't understand you clearly...

Yes, Alt + F5 is the default Hotkey to connect Wiimote 1. It works anytime I open the game normally or on some working savestate, just not on this one. And normally the console would show me a "Wii mote not connected" message with a darkened background. But in this case it doesn't.
There is no edit-Button in this forum, right?

Here's my save state 1, if anyone is currently playing Xenoblade, he may try to load this and check if he can move around or at least save the game over the menu (archive needs to be extracted): http://www.file-upload.net/download-3865464/SX4P01.rar.html

I loaded your savestate and now no buttons and not even "home" button are responding! (real and genuine wiimote+extensions)

I even tried emulated wiimote with various extension configs for the PS3 controller, and tried gamecube controller, none of these responds.

Thanks for testing, Lucario Smile
That's exactly the problem I have with it, the game is running fine but no inputs whatsoever are working, pretty weird imo.
I played the game anyways and I've caught up the 10 hours I lost between the ingame save and this savestate, so this has little priority. Yesterday the game crashed and I lost another 4 hours, it's the first time it happened with OpenGL in like 50 hours playing though.

I might build something to save my ingame progress every 10 minutes on a different save state, just so one save game fails or the game crashes, I have a soft fallback.

Just stick to in-game saves, you could use savestates but only as failsafes, cause just today i was watching 2 and a half men and i was so into it and as i was loading my TP i shifted my wiimote and pressed A and with that 38 hours of gaming went down the drain and i checked my back-up and i had no save there but luckily enough i save state just before each dungeon boss, so i loaded the boss state and got back 35 hours of gameplay. Basically just use the in-game saves and make back-ups of the whole dolphin folder like once a month or weekly if u play alot and you could also use savestates if all else is lost but if all above dont work hop on to the post your saves thread and see if you can find someone with a save where you stopped last
......?????

Thanks for the help, I'll consider that in the future if there'll be more trouble (probably not, Dolphin can be considered quite stable, even when it's not running at 100% emulation speed Smile )

Apparently this happened to Brawl too, player 2 wiimote (real) was left inactive and blue leds went out. Refreshed, blue leds on, no responds for player 2. Tried disconnect/reconnect hotkey, no good. I saved and loaded savestate, still unusable (haven't tried gamecube controller).

This may be related to wiimote connection problem, not savestate. savestate did good job at remembering that problem lol

However I might have been missing something important.

It happened to me with NSMB but I find the solution :)

it happened because I saved the status while in "Wiimote settings" there is 4 emulated controllers, and when I try to load the status while there 1 emulated controller it failed.

you could just play the game in the settings you saved it :)

sorry for my English.
