Paper Mario seems to run perfectly, but the only issue is it always locks up after 15-20 minutes of gameplay. The time it takes to lock up though, doesn't count if I go into menu, which is strange. Also, only the game locks up, the emulator actually continues to run as if the game were still running. Does anyone else experience this?

Have you perhaps pressed the TAB key to speed things up during gameplay? I ask this only because something similar happened to me while running Skies of Arcadia way back when (and the battles are really slow so...) Seems like running Dolphin too fast messed up some sort of timing. If you have used TAB (or generally run the game faster than you're supposed to), that could be the source of your issue.
Is it safe to assume you're still using 4.0-595 as mentioned in your profile? I know you've been testing different builds what with your VSH problem, so I thought I'd asked in case you haven't updated it yet. Other than that, post any relevant settings as screenshots. 01-29-2014, 02:47 PM
No, i'm currently using 4.0-722 since the buffer_storage got fixed for GTX 780/Titan cards. Also, only the gameplay freezes, the music also continues to play and no, I don't ever use TAB to speed things up. I always like to play my emulated games the way they're meant to be played, just like on a real console.

Well, everyone has their own ideas of how emulated games should be played (as close to the real thing, or something else) but anyway what about those settings?
Try disabling Dual Core and enable Synchronize GPU Thread. That's about all I can think of that you can do to make Dolphin more or less as stable as it can be. You should also check if this is a regression of some sort. Nothing fancy, just see if 4.0 (or 4.0.2 if you prefer) can run this game without issues. If so, then it's probably something that can be fixed once the developers know what caused it. |
