Last time I tried to play Metroid was before the D3D even started to be re-worked. So it was long ago, doubt that was helpful

Oh, I am curious also, is anyone having this problem with the PAL version of the game? I have NTSC Myself, and I live in the US, so it's difficult for me to get my hands on a copy of the PAL version of this game, or any game for that matter. Just curious if perhaps it could be limited to NTSC, that would also help to know as well.

This is actually the same problem I have, but on Muramasa. I've been using Revision 4152, but other older builds yield the same result. I have a quad-core (the 1st gen ones), 4GB OCX RAM, 512mb ATI Sapphire vid card.
I'll probably try out Orleans and see if it works, otherwise, playing with the options... 09-22-2009, 12:23 PM

Nvm on all that if anyone read it... it's wrong. I tried removing that code from new release and it still had the problem so i was wondering why that could be so I went back to 4012, and it happened... I am going back to testing

All right, it definitely is in either 4011 or 4012. 4010 didn't get the problem. 4012 did. I couldn't test anymore as I had to work last night again and now I'm stuck at work again. So I'll test it later. If anyone else can test it for me, I would appreciate a confirmation of my findings. Below is the link to the skydrive folder with 4010, 4011, and 4012 on it. Verify 4012 freezes and that 4010 does not. And then just test 4011 and let me know how it fairs. You'll have to use the OGL plugin, as the D3D plugin wasn't fixed until after these builds.

I had no issues with 4010 last night... and normally I can't get but 5-10 minutes out of it before it freezes, I played it for at least an hour on 4010... I guess I just got REALLY lucky...
But omega's comments make sense, I was thinking it was something with Fifo or the ISOProperties as half the time in the newer builds it freezes before it even displays the Nintendo logo. (the very first frame) 09-23-2009, 08:35 AM

I tested Metroid Prime with some settings on rev 4311 and the freezing seem to have stopped. I'm playing for almost 2 hours without freeze. I don't know what I did to solve the problem. I set "idle skipping" off and using DX plugin video configured to render to the main window of dolphin, and disable "enable other audio" in DSP. I also set watchdog patch to 60, but I do not think that is what is resolving the problem. I enabled safe texture cash in game properties to override the plugin settings. Metroid Prime is working super fast in DX plugin, I even had to set the framelimit to 60 because the game was running too fast in some areas! I'm so happy!
If someone can test to see if it really is what is solving the freezing or that I was lucky. 09-25-2009, 02:11 PM

The problem is still there, you prob just got super lucky. The changes in r3984 are what's causing it. either the FIFO or CP changes causes the problem. I'm trying to find out what the problem is cause reverting it causes the suttering that it fixed to come back. Reverting it did fix the freezing though. |
